Liberal AJC passes on Rep Chuck Martin’s whopper on lowering tuition for illegal aliens with DACA – HB 131 Kasey Carpenter

February 6, 2023 By D.A. King

House Higher Education Chairman Chuck Martin (R- Alpharetta) went out of his way to tell his committee last week that GOP Rep Kasey Carpenter’s HB 131 would not give Georgia’s illegal aliens benefits unavailable to Americans and legal immigrants. Martin: “…this does not put people that are in the country illegally in front of others.”

Rep Chuck Martin.

Martin referred to an educational email sent to the Republican members of the committee in an effort to create doubt as to its accuracy. He declined to name the sender. I will. I am the sender. He also incorporated a few lines of the bill that have nothing to do with his remarks – which are entirely false. As a matter of fact it’s difficult not to refer to what state Representative Chuck Martin said as an intentional lie. You can see and hear his entire pre-hearing sale speech to the members of his committee here.

  • Related: A new ‘gimmick’: College “opportunity tuition” for illegal aliens – Insider Advantage HB 120 (2021)

The legislation serves to lower the existing tuition rates paid by illegal aliens in Georgia’s public colleges and tech schools by dodging the term “instate tuition” and creating a new tier of tuition – they are calling it “Opportunity tuition.” Carpenter tried the same hustle in 2021 when his first two tries at fooling his fellow committee members failed. Illegal alien students who benefit from the new rate would be known as “Opportunity students.” That new rate would only be the sum of the instate rate plus one to ten percent – a huge reduction for the illegals.

American and legal immigrants who live in other states would not be eligible for this lower rate. They would still be required to pay the out of state tuition charge.

The powerful Georgia Chamber of Commerce is pushing for this bill to pass – again.

Enter the liberal AJC with a story today from education reporter Vanessa McCray on the bill and the false assurance from Martin (AJC On Campus: Georgia student loan numbers, DACA tuition bill). McCray and her editors know the illegals would be getting a deal on reduced tuition that a U.S. citizen in Michigan (for example) could not get at Georgia’s Kennesaw State University (for example) but they play along with Martin with the knowledge that any ignorant legislators and/or readers will take Martin’s hogwash as fact. For those in the back: the AJC wants the bill to pass.

We expect Martin to allow a few more days before calling a hearing on the bill to allow the AJC distribution of the misinformation to travel around the state. Dollars to donuts other ‘journalists” will parrot the lie.

This is standard fare for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. They pulled a similar misinformation campaign the last time Carpenter tried to slide his “illegal aliens first” bill through. See here and here as examples. More on the AJC here.

Try to discern what side they are on: Liberal AJC links to amnesty advocates at FWD.us – again.

November 1, 2021 By D.A. King

The below is taken from the political blog “The Morning Jolt” put out by the liberal AJC.

It’s not the first time the newspaper has linked to the anti-borders crowd.

Here is another clue to the AJC agenda on borders and immigration enforcement.

___________

The Morning Jolt

November 01, 2021

“The pro-immigration FWD.us lobbying group launched a new ad in Georgia Monday as a part of a seven-figure campaign in Washington and other key states to encourage an overhaul of immigration laws in Congress.

The ad features Jaime Rangel, a recipient of the Obama-era DACA initiative for immigrants who came to America as children. He came to the U.S. when he was six months old, grew up in Dalton and is now the father of a U.S. citizen.

“Congress has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enact reform via reconciliation and I thank and encourage our Georgia congressional leaders to continue fighting to protect Dreamers like me,” he said in the ad.”

The 2022 Georgia Senate race, Gary Black, Herschel Walker, Brian Kemp, Trump and the liberal AJC

October 20, 2021 By D.A. King

Image: Dustin inman Society

Both leading Republican candidates for Georgia’s 2022 U.S. Senate race have supported immigration amnesty

A Washington friend asked me to outline what is happening in Georgia with the 2022 race for U.S. Senate related to immigration. I explained that reading the liberal Atlanta Journal Constitution would not give him a full picture.

_____

The story so far.

Elected in 2010, career Big Ag lobbyist and Georgia’s current Commissioner of Agriculture, Gary Black, went to Washington in 2011 and recommended to a U.S. Senate panel that illegal alien farm labor be legalized. They should be required to remain in the farm industry to keep their renewable work permits, he said.

See here for a link to Black’s Senate testimony.

GA Ag Commissioner and U.S. senate candidate Gary Black – Photo: Politico
Senator Rev. Raphael G. Warnock.Photo AJC.

Gary Black is now a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate to replace pro amnesty Democrat Raphael Warnock.

Agriculture is Georgia’s largest industry. Republicans control the state Capitol – as much as the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Big Ag allow.

Georgia media treats Black’s amnesty and indentured servitude advocacy as a closely guarded secret. This includes the uber-liberal Atlanta Journal Constitution.  And some establishment Republican talk show hosts.

Black is the donor class choice for the 2022 Republican senate primary, which is illustrated by the fact that former Governor Nathan Deal has endorsed him. So have about seventy-five Georgia sheriffs and a long list of Republican state legislators – few of whom, we suspect, are aware of his past call for amnesty. We think it likely that few care.

Enter Trump-pushed senate hopeful and now front runner Georgia football icon Herschel Walker who finally announced his own candidacy in late August. Big on “unity,” Walker was slow to put out a real campaign platform or position on “issues” until news broke this week about his past call for immigration amnesty.

Photo: AP.

Yesterday the liberal AJC ran a story on Walker and a 2015 statement he made regarding amnesty.

“He told USA Today in August 2015 that he supports Trump’s idea of building a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico but disagreed with his plan to deport millions of immigrants living in the country illegally. He also said then that he’d back a proposal that enables such immigrants to earn citizenship” goes the AJC report. Update: Walker on controlling the border and the economy to the UGA College Republicans – January 13, 2022 .

The next day (Oct 19) the AJC political blog (“The Jolt”) reported that Gary Black created and is airing a radio ad hitting Walker for his immigration stance.

As of late October 19, the AJC still has not reported on Black’s amnesty advocacy or the indentured servitude angle. I waited until the daily AJC political blog was posted this AM to put this up. No mention of Gary Black’s call for amnesty. Some news is apparently more news than other news…

It’s a good bet the liberal AJC plans on keeping Black’s secret as long as they can. Meantime, pro-amnesty Democrat incumbent Warnock has (updated amount from “9 million”) $17 million cash on hand.

The Herschel Walker camp has not disputed or backed away from his 2015 comments on amnesty but has put out a statement that includes the below moldy-oldie dodge:

“America is a nation of immigrants, and Herschel strongly supports those who follow the process to legally enter this country,” said Walker campaign spokesperson Mallory Blount. “He has several dear friends who have done so. We have a humanitarian and illegal immigration crisis at our southern border that career politicians have created.

“When you have a leak, you fix it. Any conversations about immigration have to start with finally securing our southern border and Herschel will work to make that happen, unlike our current senators.” – Capitol Beat News Service.

We don’t think the advisors in Walker’s campaign have a clue about visa overstays and that more than half of the illegal aliens in the U.S. today did not come over the border illegally. Voters either. It’s not included in “the news” from the AJC.

Did we mention that Walker is in the race because Trump pushed his candidacy? It is good to see that Walker is urging people to actually vote in the coming election.

Also relevant is an October 4, 2021 AJC story finally breaking the news that some pro-enforcement Georgia Republicans are not happy with the betrayal by Gov Brian Kemp. A large metro-Atlanta area county GOP group censured the Republican Governor for, among other things, ignoring his detailed 2018 campaign promises on illegal immigration.

The agenda-driven AJC editors headline described Kemp’s pledge to go after “criminal illegals” and sanctuary cities as being “anti-immigration.” It helps outsiders understanding of “news” in Atlanta to know that the AJC served as dinner Chair for a MALDEF fundraiser here.

We are desperately seeking pro-enforcement candidates for the U.S. Senate and governor – and refer to our GOP-ruled state as ‘Georgiafornia.’

AJC headline tells readers door to higher education closed to immigrants in Georgia!

February 9, 2021 By D.A. King

Photo: Twitter

Oh, my! The Feb 4, 2021 headline in the liberal AJC’s “Get Schooled” blog “OPINION: Open door to higher education for immigrants” tells us the door to higher education is closed to immigrants! Can you imagine how horrible the state of Georgia must be?

But wait, the sub-headline is “Bill introduced by Republican legislator would restore in-state tuition for young immigrants.”

Ah, so maybe it’s not that immigrants cannot get a college education in the Peach State after all. Maybe the AJC’s problem with Georgia is that young immigrants must pay out-of-state tuition – at public universities?

Nope, that isn’t true either.

Actually the state’s taxpayer funded University System of Georgia is ruled by the autonomous Board of Regents and that body has a policy offering instate tuition rates to immigrants. But – and here is the real problem the AJC and the people who wrote the opinion column have with Georgia – the benefit is for legal immigrants. And refugees. And asyleees. Pretty mean, eh?

Legal immigrants, also known as Lawful Permanent Residents have what are widely referred to as ‘green cards.” The Regents policy does not allow illegal aliens to access instate tuition.

It’s right there in the Board of Regents Policy Manual

4.3 Student Residency.

4.3.1 Out-of-State Enrollment & 4.3.2 Classification of Students for Tuition Purposes

4.3.2.3 Non-Citizens

“A non-citizen student shall not be classified as in-state for tuition purposes unless the student is legally in this state and there is evidence to warrant consideration of in-state classification as determined by the Board of Regents. Lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or other eligible noncitizens as defined by federal Title IV regulations may be extended the same consideration as citizens of the United States in determining whether they qualify for in-state classification.

International students who reside in the United States under non-immigrant status conditioned at least in part upon intent not to abandon a foreign domicile shall not be eligible for in-state classification.”

The liberal AJC headline is over an opinion column from two advocates, Sofia Bork and Munir Meghjani. They seem very confused about the regents policy.

“Unfortunately, Georgia’s growing immigrant community has been locked out of the system that could propel them to reach their full potential, benefiting both their community and our state’s workforce. We have seen scores of family and friends struggle to make ends meet to afford the same education we received” they tell us.

If you have already guessed that the column is really about promoting state legislation to give illegal aliens instate tuition, you are on the right track.

The bill being sold is House Bill 120 from Republican Rep Kasey Carpenter of Dalton. Carpenter – and his mostly Democrat co-sponsors – want to provide illegal aliens with the much lower instate tuition rate than the regents allow U.S. citizens and legal immigrants from most other states to pay.

In liberal parlance, it’s fairness to “immigrants.”

Rep Carpenter says his bill is all about illegal aliens with DACA status. It’s not. DACA is not mentioned anywhere in the bill. But that isn’t part of the advocate’s column in the AJC. Rep Carpenter says illegal aliens with DACA are somehow ‘lawfully present’ in the United States. The 11th Circuit Appellate Court says DACA does not provide lawful presence. We wrote it up here.

None of that is in the opinion column in the liberal AJC.  It’s worth a read if you aren’t already convinced the editors at the AJC are driven by an open borders agenda and they are quite willing to smear real immigrants to push that cause.

AJC Get Schooled editor Maureen Downey. Photo: Twitter.

The AJC “Get Schooled” blog is run by AJC editor Maureen Downey who we suspect wrote the headline.

AJC selling instate tuition for illegal aliens bill with misinformation again #HB120 #KaseyCarpenter

February 1, 2021 By D.A. King

Photo: Poynter’s job online

Editors change source of inaccurate information on pending legislation from sponsor to…the AJC.

We posted a detailed piece last week on Republican state Rep Kasey Carpenter’s instate-tuition-for-illegal-aliens bill (HB 120) and the fact that he is selling it as a bill to provide instate tuition to DACA recipients only. He may change the language to put some reference to DACA in the legislation, but it isn’t there now – (LC 49 0327/a) and it wasn’t there when he introduced the bill. We cited a Carpenter quote from the uber-liberal and often fake news-spewing Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) promo coverage (Georgia lawmaker to reintroduce in-state tuition bill for young immigrants)  that went :“Carpenter said his bill would apply to participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.”

The AJC didn’t put the second string on this one. The byline belongs to Jeremy Redmon, the AJC’s longtime immigration reporter (they removed that label several years ago, but he is still that guy). Redmon is pretty well-versed on immigration law as well as legislation and the fact that DACA is not in the HB 120 bill would not have gone unnoticed. Which is why the AJC had the qualifier “Carpenter said his bill…” (italics mine).

Jeremy Redmon reads our stuff. Amusing side note: Redmon has me blocked on Twitter. He knows the bill is in trouble and like the management and editorial staff of the AJC, he has an agenda.

Fast forward a few days to the January 31, 2021 Sunday edition in which the AJC ran a new blurb on the same bill on the “Capitol Recap” page (A-4) in which the liberal AJC is now telling readers (including irresponsibly ignorant Republican state lawmakers) that the legislation “would apply to participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.” Again, that is false. All anyone need do is to read the bill to see it is false. This is typical of the AJC. They are now beyond merely promoting the scam legislation, and are now misrepresenting its contents. It is far from the first time.

The AJC is not to be trusted, but there are still people who will accept total lies because “I read it in the newspaper…”

No more jail! Anti-Borders Marxists to Atlanta’s Mayor: “It is time to end the cruel, unnecessary, and unhelpful incarceration of all human beings…”

May 29, 2020 By D.A. King

Photo: College of Liberal and Creative Arts, San Francisco State University

(Note: Atlanta’s mayor has already signed legislation to close the city’s jail)

The letter pasted below was sent to the mayor of Atlanta recently and distributed on May 28, 2020. I have added a few educational links to the letter. My links are noted with an *asterisk.

Photo: CBS 46

The letter below:

Dear Members of the Atlanta City Council:

We, as *immigrants’ rights organizations, write this letter to urge you to support an upcoming budget amendment that will finally close the city jail and redirect the $18 million currently allocated to the Atlanta Department of Corrections (ADOC) in the proposed 2020-21 city budget to services to promote the health and wellness of all Atlantans.

To date, while *the City of Atlanta terminated the contract with ICE, ACDC to this day still incarcerates our community members, primarily on minor or petty offenses. It is time to end the cruel, unnecessary, and unhelpful incarceration of all human beings at ACDC.  The city’s commitment to close and *repurpose the jail cannot be reconciled with allocating millions of dollars to its operation in the coming year. At a time of public health crisis and a loss of millions in the City’s revenue, it is unconscionable for the City of Atlanta to spend $18 million to continue to operate a jail that sits mostly empty and is already slated for closure and repurposing.

We ask that you support the amendment to zero out the FY21 budget for the Department of Corrections and announce a date certain for the jail’s closure.

Just two years ago, many of our organizations testified before the City Council on the human rights violations occurring at the Atlanta City Detention Center (ACDC), and called for terminating the contract with ICE and closing the jail altogether. These violations, described at length in Project South and Georgia Detention Watch’s 2018 Report titled, Inside Atlanta’s Immigrant Cages, highlighted: lack of medical care and mental health care, unsanitary living conditions, lack of edible food, abusive labor practices, lack of religious accommodations, verbal abuse by officers, overuse and abusive use of solitary confinement, and more.[1]

After years of advocacy from community organizations to close the detention center and end immigration detention in Atlanta, the Mayor created an advisory committee to make a recommendation as to whether the City of Atlanta should end the contract with ICE that allowed for the detention of immigrants at ACDC. After hearing from directly impacted individuals who *testified to the horrid conditions at the facility and urged the Mayor to shut the facility down, the advisory committee recommended that the mayor end the contract to detain immigrants with ICE. The committee recognized that detaining immigrants at ACDC was inhumane.

*Terminating the contract with ICE was an important step towards Atlanta becoming a more welcoming city – one that prioritizes community-based care and support over punitive spaces for warehousing human beings. In the year that followed, we heard from organizers and residents throughout the city of Atlanta who are ready to see the jail closed, and the Mayor committed to shutting down and repurposing ACDC. Over the past two years, we were proud to see Atlanta praised, both locally and nationally for the collaborative development of a bold and compassionate plan to divest from incarceration and invest in real solutions for Atlanta’s marginalized communities.

Now more than ever, we must put an end to locking people in cages for petty offenses such as jaywalking and disorderly conduct, wasting desperately needed resources, criminalizing people for being poor, and making us all less safe.

We respectfully ask that you support our proposal and vote to zero out this year’s budget for the Department of Corrections and set a date for the jail’s closure.

 Sincerely,

 *

“Chinga La Migra!” – More on the Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR) and their open hate for immigration enforcement officers

October 1, 2019 By D.A. King

“Chinga La Migra” “Abolish ICE!” “ICE out of Georgia” “ICE free Georgia”

What you won’t read in the liberal AJC

GLAHR booth at a recent event. Image. GLAHR Twitter feed.

GLAHR, along with ‘Project South Institute for Elimination of Poverty and Genocide‘ is one of several groups hosting a “community forum” against the lifesaving 287(g) program tomorrow in Gwinnett County. See my recent write up here.  We are watching to see if the Gwinnett Daily Post and the “compelling” AJC cover this coming anti-287(g) event put on by these illegal alien lobby groups.

The open borders GLAHR corporation is run by a Mexican-born communist named Adelina Nichols. The two groups were invited by Gwinnett County Commissioner Marlene Fosque to a two-sided forum in July but backed out when they learned I was a panelist. The Gwinnett paper and the AJC both covered that event.

Above is a recently posted photograph on the GLAHR Twitter page of their booth at an event last week. Look carefully.

See the banner in the back of the booth?

Image: Zazzle, via Transpanish.biz

Don’t know what “La Migra” means? It is a Spanish language slang term used to describe any law enforcement official who is authorized to enforce immigration law.

Here is an explanation from the Transpanish website

“A derivative of the Spanish term migración (migration) or related to migraciones – the offices dealing with immigration issues in Spanish-speaking countries – the term has become shorthand for both agencies and individuals that deal with immigrants and immigration. Both the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agencies can be referred to as La Migra, as well as the personnel who work for them, including immigration officers and agents who perform inspections of cars crossing the border or in search of illegal immigrants in places of business.”

So, what does the illegal alien lobby mean when they say (they say it a lot) “Chinga La Migra?”

“Chinga” is a slang word in Spanish for the “F word” – and we don’t mean firetruck.

You can see for yourself here and here.

GLAHR (2017 contributions and grants, $458,557) has been organizing illegal aliens in Georgia since 2001. From the GLAHR website, you can – and should –  see here ( <– it may take a few seconds to load. GLAHR took the page down, so the link is going to the Wayback Machine) for an example of how far along they are with their “Peoples Committees.” Nichols has t-shirts and sweatshirts for her anti-borders followers, which read “GLAHR – DEFY, DEFEND, EXPAND” – here.

Pro-enforcement Americans should learn when to say “Viva La Migra!”

But be advised, they hate that.

Open to the public: Atlanta illegal alien lobby to hold a ‘do-over’ anti-287 (g) forum in Gwinnett County

September 27, 2019 By D.A. King

Anti-borders protesters at July 31, Gwinnett County 287(g) panel discussion. Image: IPG

Organizers dropped out of a two-sided discussion in July – but sent screaming protestors

Where and when: Collins Hill  Branch of the Gwinnett Public Library, 455 Camp Perrin Rd. Wednesday, October 2, at 6:PM.

Call it a “do-over.”

Several corporate-funded, anti-enforcement immigration groups have scheduled a “community forum” focused on the federal 287(g) program that allows local law enforcement to locate, report and hold illegal aliens in local jails. The program often leads to deportation.

The Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR), the Project South Institute for the Elimination of Poverty and Genocide, Women Watch Africa Inc. and BAJI – the Black Alliance for Just Immigration are listed in online fliers as organizers of the event.

GLAHR was co-founded in 2001 by former Mexican diplomat Teodoro Maus and Mexican-born Adelina Nichols. Nichols, who now runs the anti-borders company is a longtime activist against immigration enforcement and a proponent of drivers licenses for illegal aliens.  Legal & Advocacy Director for Project South is Iranian-born Azadeh Shahshahani who has worked with the ACLU and an off-shoot called ‘Georgia Detention Watch’ to end 287(g) agreements nationwide and to abolish detention of illegal aliens.

The event is intended to perpetuate false, race-baiting accusations against the 287(g) program and ICE and anyone who supports immigration enforcement.

Endless and shameless use of the term “immigrant’ to describe illegal aliens should be expected.

These are the goals the organizers hoped to pursue for in a six-person July panel discussion held by Democrat Gwinnett County Commissioner Marlene Fosque that included pro-enforcement panelists from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s office, ICE and this writer from the Dustin Inman Society. Angry that the Dustin Inman Society was to be part of the event, Nichols, Shahshahani and the staffer from another open borders concern called ‘Asian Americans Advancing Justice’ dropped out at the last minute.

Marlene Fosque. Image Gwinnett County Commission

Fosque found three anti-287(g) stand-in panelists including a board member of the infamous and discredited GALEO , Democrat state legislator, Brenda Lopez Romero ,who is a candidate for congress in Georgia’s Seventh District. The discussion went south when Romero, unable to offer factual arguments against using the 287(g) crime-fighting tool, decided to change the topic to attacking D.A. King (me) personally.

The fact that the radical groups dropped out of the panel did not prevent them from igniting and displaying the hate for immigration enforcement they have instilled in their young followers who disrupted the meeting multiple times with screams, jeers and a display of signs inside the Gwinnett County commission auditorium directed at the ICE Agent panelist and this writer. The liberal press wrote it up with a ‘victims of borders vs oppression’ angle complete with false descriptions of pro-enforcement Americans being “anti-immigrant and “anti-immigration.”

Online flier from event organizers. Image: Twitter

According to the illegal alien lobby’s flyer, the anti-287(g) forum will be held at the taxpayer-funded, (open to the public) Collins Hill Branch of the Gwinnett Public Library, 455 Camp Perrin Rd. Wednesday, October 2, at 6:PM.

For Georgians who have not been exposed to the tax-exempt-trained and hate-fueled opposition to borders and immigration enforcement, the meeting is a ‘don’t miss. ‘

Note: It is unknown if there will be law enforcement present but having your camera at the ready is highly recommended.

Defamation: Dustin Inman Society demands correction and apology from the Atlanta Journal Constitution

‘DEFAMATORY’: Conservative Demands Swing-State Newspaper Retract ‘Hate Group’ Smear

From the Daily Signal

Tyler O’Neil

October 22, 2024

D.A. King, an immigration enforcement activist whose defamation lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center is proceeding in court, sent a legal demand letter to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, requesting a correction when the newspaper called his organization an “anti-immigration hate group.”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the paper of record in and around Georgia’s capital city, mentioned King’s group, the Dustin Inman Society, as an aside in an Oct. 7 article about Katy Stamper, who won the Democratic primary in Georgia’s 11th Congressional District. Democrats now support a write-in candidate, claiming Stamper won the primary on false pretenses.

“A search of activity under her birth name, Karen Sacandy, which Stamper legally changed in 2019, showed that she previously was aligned with a Marietta-based anti-immigration hate group,” The Journal-Constitution’s Washington correspondent, Tia Mitchell, wrote. Mitchell went on to include links to the Dustin Inman Society’s website, without mentioning the society or explaining why the paper characterized it as an “anti-immigration hate group.”

The Daily Signal depends on the support of readers like you. Donate nowfreestar

The Dustin Inman Society, which advocates enforcing immigration law and combats illegal immigration, has three legal immigrants on its board of advisors: Mary Grabar (from Slovenia); Maria Litland (from Austria); and Sabine Durden-Coulter (from Germany). The society takes its name from a 16-year-old Georgia boy killed in a 2000 car crash caused by an illegal immigrant.

“This smear is an ongoing and retaliatory habit for the staff at the AJC,” King told The Daily Signal in a written statement Friday. “They know it’s false and have had to run corrections many times over the years telling readers that we are aimed at illegal immigration and are not somehow ‘anti-immigration.’”

Where Did AJC Get the Idea?

King is already fighting to restore his reputation in court after one left-leaning organization, the Southern Poverty Law Center, branded the Dustin Inman Society a “hate group.”

The SPLC, which routinely brands mainstream conservative and Christian organizations “hate groups” and puts them on a map with chapters of the Ku Klux Klan, branded the society an “anti-immigrant hate group” in 2018. Yet back in 2011, the SPLC told The Associated Press that it didn’t consider the society a “hate group.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which advocates lessening immigration restrictions, registered a lobbyist to oppose a bill the society supported. The SPLC marked the society as a “hate group” around the same time.

King sued the SPLC for defamation, and a federal judge allowed the lawsuit to move to the discovery process.

As I explain in my book “Making Hate Pay: The Corruption of the Southern Poverty Law Center,” a terrorist used the organization’s “hate map” to attack a conservative Christian nonprofit in Washington, D.C., in 2012, and a former SPLC staffer called the “hate” accusations a “highly profitable scam.” Many defamation lawsuits against the SPLC have failed, however, in part because few plaintiffs before King could prove that the organization had reason to suspect the “hate group” label was false.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution didn’t cite the SPLC in its attack on the Dustin Inman Society, and it didn’t respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment for this story.

In Competition With the SPLC?

King told The Daily Signal that the newspaper is echoing the Southern Poverty Law Center’s attack but setting itself up as a separate arbiter of “hate.”

“Since we began our battle against illegal immigration here in 2005, the AJC has migrated from merely being biased, liberal and agenda-driven to blooming into apparent competition with the despicable SPLC,” he said. “They have now apparently taken it upon themselves to bypass the leftist establishment smear artists and classify pro-enforcement political opponents who talk back as operating an ‘anti-immigration hate group’ themselves—including those who are immigrants.”

King said the newspaper was engaging in a double standard: condemning his organization as a “hate group” while celebrating those on the Left who advocate amnesty for illegal aliens. He cited the Georgia Association of Elected Officials, which goes by the acronym GALEO and describes itself as focusing “on increasing civic participation of the Latinx community and developing prominent Latino leaders throughout Georgia.”

“In the meantime,” King said of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “they label anti-enforcement, far-left groups such as the notorious GALEO that publicly protest against immigration enforcement as ‘civil rights groups.’”

King also noted that the AJC paid to sponsor the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund gala in 2004. Mario Obledo, MALDEF’s co-founder, had suggested that non-Hispanic, white California residents should move “back to Europe.”

When then-President Bill Clinton gave Obledo the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1998, a man in the audience asked, “You also made the statement that California is going to become a Hispanic state and if anyone doesn’t like it they should leave. Did you say that?”

“I did,” Obledo replied. “They ought to go back to Europe.”

“The AJC has promoted open borders and helped this far-left, anti-borders group with fundraising,” King told The Daily Signal. “Just because MALDEF founder Mario Obledo called for Americans who didn’t agree with his plan for California and saying those who didn’t ‘ought to go back to Europe’ didn’t stop AJC from serving as ‘dinner chair’ for a MALDEF funder gala here.”… please read the entire article here.

Illegal immigration is crime

July 14, 2024 By D.A. King

Pro-enforcement Americans should talk back to liberal media

By now in the ongoing illegal alien invasion and colonization of the United States, even the most unaware Americans must surely recognize the endless effort from the left to intentionally conflate “immigrants” with illegal aliens. And to convince us that illegal aliens are less likely to commit crimes than Americans. The intentional push by the liberal media stenographers to happily assist with the endeavor does not and will not end the activist propaganda campaign.

One of the legacy media/Democrat (my apologies for the repetition) goals is to auto-paint as “anti-immigrant” Americans who demand the nation’s immigration laws be enforced or notice the resulting crime.” It’s a “pro-enforcement opinion on immigration is “hate” effort on the part of media.

Here is a March example from NPR of this pre-planned dishonesty titled “Immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than U.S.-born Americans, studies find” posted after an illegal alien allegedly murdered Laken Riley in Athens. NPR “reporter” Jasmine Garsd quotes U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R- AL): “She (Laken Riley) was brutally murdered by one of the millions of illegal border crossers President Biden chose to release into our homeland. Y’all … as a mom, I can’t quit thinking about this. I mean, this could have been my daughter. This could have been yours.”

NPR in the very next paragraph: “The claim that immigration brings on a crime wave can be traced back to the first immigrants who arrived in the U.S. Ever since the 1980s and ’90s, this false narrative saw a resurgence.”

See what they did there? Illegal immigration is simply “immigration.”

“False narrative” indeed.

Here is another example from the despicable Atlanta Journal Constitution in a recent report on the June Biden-Trump debate (“Hispanic voters in Georgia react to a debate that often centered on immigration”). It’s from their immigration writer, Lautaro Grinspan with assistance from another AJC typist, Helena Oliverio. The piece explains to the reader that Trump asserts the U.S. Mexico border is considered the most dangerous place in the world. He pointed to the fact that illegal border crossings have reached record highs during the Biden administration. The topic is illegal immigration.

The AJC: “While some individuals who entered the country illegally have gone on to commit violent crimes, including here in Georgia, data shows that a vast majority of immigrants don’t. According to a Northwestern University study published earlier this year, immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than U.S.-born citizens (italics mine).

See what they did there?

The AJC’s front page slogan is “The Substance and soul of the south.”

The far-left NPR is also one of many anti-enforcement outlets pushing this gem: “There is also state level research, that shows similar results: researchers at the CATO Institute, a libertarian think tank, looked into Texas in 2019. They found that undocumented immigrants were 37.1% less likely to be convicted of a crime. (italics mine). Not said: CATO is an open borders concern. Readers who doubt that statement should read “Forget the Wall Already, It’s Time for the U.S. to Have Open Borders” – the CATO Institute, July, 2018.

Pro-enforcement readers should know and use some static truth on illegal immigration.

  • “Illegal Entry”/8 U.S.C. § 1325 makes it a crime to unlawfully enter the United States. A first offense is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine, up to six months in prison, or both.
  • “Illegal Re-Entry”/8 U.S.C. § 1326 makes it a crime to unlawfully reenter, attempt to unlawfully reenter, or to be found in the United States after having been deported, ordered removed, or denied admission. This crime is punishable as a felony with a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
  • Illegal employment is the main driver of illegal immigration in the U.S.
  • It is a federal offense to knowingly hire an “undocumented worker” (8 USC 1324(a).
  • The use of a false Social Security Number or card to obtain a benefit is a felony, punishable by a fine, and up to five years in prison (SSA.gov) .
  • Identity theft is a crime (IRS.gov).

Illegal immigration is organized crime.

Responsible conservatives should fight back by talking back to the left – including media – with an educated voice.

Because silence is consent.
