GA senator explains penalty for talking back to Gov. Brian Kemp for his betrayal on illegal immigration to Cobb GOP

January 3, 2024 By D.A. King

State Sen. Ed Setzler, R-Acworth, and Cobb GOP Chair Salleigh Grubbs discussed a previous Cobb GOP resolution which censured Gov. Brian Kemp at the GOP’s monthly breakfast on Saturday at Kore Steakhouse in Marietta. Jon Gillooly

The below is taken from Newsbreak.com, Nov. 7, 2023

State Sen. Ed Setzler, R-Acworth, came to the Cobb County Republican Party’s monthly breakfast meeting to deliver a speech on the national debt and how the U.S. should act on the world stage.

But when he opened it up for questions, the animated audience had other topics on their minds.

One questioner asked why Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who’s prosecuting a case against former President Donald Trump, is still in power.

“We have a Republican governor, a Republican legislature, and they’re not doing anything to help Trump,” the questioner said, noting the exception was state Sen. Colton Moore who advocated impeaching Willis.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with (Gov.) Brian Kemp,” the questioner continued. “Frankly I don’t know what’s wrong. He says he’s a Christian. When is he going to act like a Christian?”

Cobb GOP Chair Salleigh Grubbs told Setzler that they feel abandoned in Cobb County.

Ga.Gov. Brain Kemp at Davos, 2023.

“We feel abandoned because when it came to the home rule provision with the attorney general’s office, Cobb County’s on its own,” Grubbs said. “The governor is not getting involved. There’s so many things that we feel like we’re on an island in Cobb County, and we run up the flag, and it’s the distress signal, and trust me Ed, I love you. You’re one of my favorite people, not only as a legislator, but as a friend, but we feel like we’re alone, and we feel like there’s nobody fighting for us.”

A similar theme came from audience member John McLean, who was there with his wife, Kathy. McLean said he lost count of how many times he’s come to such events and been told Republicans must come together.

“But while I’m being told we got to come together, I see the Republican caucus remove somebody they disagree with — in secret,” McClean said. “ … The other thing is we’ve got the governor of the state of Georgia that obviously can’t accept any criticism, and so he’s kicked the (state) GOP to the curb. We’ve got a supposed Republican secretary of state that’s AWOL and won’t commit to upgrading the voting machines. And whether we want to agree that there’s enough fraud in the election — there’s fraud — whether there was enough fraud in the election to overturn the election, there’s a certain percentage of Republicans and people in this room, I’m assuming like me, that are suspect of those voting machines he won’t upgrade.”

McLean said he wants to stay on the team and be committed, but he said he doesn’t see Georgia’s Republican leadership doing the same.

“We’ve got home rule being challenged in Cobb County and our attorney general is AWOL. He’s filed an amicus brief, but that’s not enough. We’ve got the Board of Education, the county Board of Education that’s decided not to defend their map. I just don’t get it, and I don’t see Republicans doing enough,” he said.

Setzler asked the audience if he had permission to tell the truth. Yes, the crowd answered. He then referenced the infamous September 2021 resolution in which the Cobb GOP censured Kemp. Ever since that censure took place, neither Kemp nor other statewide elected officials such as Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr have appeared at a Cobb GOP breakfast. (They do attend the meetings of Cobb County Republican Women’s Club, which is a separate organization run by club president Nancy Couch.)

  • Note from D.A.: I was happy to write the Cobb resolution in question and praise the Cobb GOP members who passed it.

“When a party organization, you may think you’re justified, when a party organization formally and in writing censures a sitting governor from their own party in a rebuke, I can guarantee you what that means. Your party organization’s voice vanishes,” Seltzer told the crowd. “That was, in my opinion, one of the most strategically ill-informed decisions I’ve ever seen since I’ve been associated with the Cobb County Republican Party. And (you) might have even been right. That doesn’t even mean whether you’re right or wrong on the issue. Set that aside. But when parties rebuke in writing and resolution their own sitting governor — you have every right to do that, but when you feel like your voice isn’t there anymore, you have only yourself to blame.”

Setzler said on top of that, it makes it difficult for him, state Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick, R-east Cobb, and others to advocate for Cobb County when the county party makes such a move.

Grubbs replied that there is “a culture of distrust” that exists in Georgia, which she said is bigger than the governor or legislature. As a member of the Georgia Republican Party’s executive committee, Grubbs said there is infighting on that board.

“Because it’s like, ‘Well you’re on (Georgia GOP head Josh McKoon’s) side. Or you’re a mole or you’re this or you’re that.’ And what that tells me is that an effective leader addresses the issue, and says, ‘It was a censure. I understand. I heard you. Let me tell you why that’s a problem, and let’s move past it.’ But here we are almost three years later, and we’re still having that conversation. And if you’re in a marriage … and you have a problem in your marriage, ‘Well, three years ago, you did not load the dish washer properly, and I’ve told you how to do it, and so now I’m divorcing you.’ You know, it’s insane, it’s immature, and it’s childish to not deal with issues and move on past it for the sake of America. This is not just Georgia we’re talking about. It’s the sake of America,” she said to applause.

Setzler responded by observing how they were certainly addressing the issue out in the open.

“It’s being aired out. We’re airing it out today. We all have roles. I think Salleigh’s role is extremely important, prominent. The work you put in is just stunning to me, I so, so appreciate that. I mean that not to be trite,” Setzler said.

However, he continued, “The Cobb County Republican Party as an organization is going to need to address that with our governor and his folks. When you have both collectively addressed that to all sides’ adequate satisfaction it will then be addressed.”

Letter to the editor from retired immigration enforcement agent Bob Trent: Stop no-cost college courses for the undocumented

December 26, 2023 By D.A. King

Opinion

Peters to the editor

Dec 21, 202

It looks like pro-enforcement immigration activists may be out in front of the “watchdog media” on crucial matters relevant to illegal immigration in Georgia and our tax dollars. Georgia activist D.A. King has been asking a question on his ImmigrationPoliticsGA.com blog for at least three years about the dual enrollment program pushed by Kemp and Republican legislators.

It’s an easy enough question: Where in the law regulating the program is the provision that says illegal aliens are not eligible for the no-cost college course seats awarded to high school students? And where is the language that spells out a verification program for this important exclusion? I find neither.

The U.S. Supreme Court decision Plyer v. Doe requires U.S. public schools to educate the illegals K-12. It does not make them eligible for no-cost post secondary education. The tutorials on various state websites make it clear that a Social Security number is not necessary to enter the dual enrollment program.

While conservative Republicans wage an annual battle under the Gold Dome to stop other Republicans from changing state law so as to award in-state college tuition to Georgia’s “undocumented” foreign high school grads, it looks like we are paying for zero-cost college tuition as well as fees and books for the illegal aliens who haven’t yet graduated our tax-funded high schools. King has a valid question.

As a retired Border Patrol agent and a special agent, to me, this seems like a topic ripe for in-depth investigative journalism.

The AJC and Bill Nigut do some history revision on DACA

December 22, 2023 By D.A. King

The former  enforcer for the anti-enforcement ADL in the Southeast, Bill Nigut, now works for the leftist Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper here. Nigut is base progressive and a true hack. He is also an arrogant coward.

Today’s emailed afternoon AJC political blog newsletter (“Politically Georgia P.M. Update”) brought a column by Nigut titled “Opinion: The thorny history of immigration reform” in which he tells readers all about the need for another amnesty. Along the way he allows that

“In 2012 President Obama created DACA through an executive order. But its promise of giving permanent status to millions of young immigrants has faced endless legal challenges and partisan attacks ever since.”

Bill Nigut, foreground.

Oy.

It is not difficult to highlight the hard left’s daily misinformation – particularly on immigration matters – and Nigut’s attempt here is no exception. Obama, after repeatedly noting that as president he had no authority go around congress or to impose the now proven illegal DACA scheme was at least repeatedly clear that is was never intended to create a permanent status  for the illegal aliens who benefitted: Here is part of what Zero said:

“Effective immediately, the Department of Homeland Security is taking steps to lift the shadow of deportation from these young people.  Over the next few months, eligible individuals who do not present a risk to national security or public safety will be able to request temporary relief from deportation proceedings and apply for work authorization.

Now, let’s be clear — this is not amnesty, this is not immunity.  This is not a path to citizenship.  It’s not a permanent fix.  This is a temporary stopgap measure that lets us focus our resources wisely while giving a degree of relief and hope to talented, driven, patriotic young people…”

You can read the entire Obama 2012 DACA roll out speech  here.

And will somebody tell Nigut and his AJC editors that DACA was not created by Executive Order? EOs are all numbered. Maybe get Nigut to reveal the number of that elusive DACA Executive Order?

Nigut’s afternoon missive on immigration, DACA and amnesty can be seen here.  We predict there will be no correction or history of a re-write. This is all common practice for the AJC.

How to create fake (“pseudo”) SSNs to find more workers, brought to us by an official State of Ohio Website – and the Feds #SB379 (2022)

December 19, 2023 By D.A. King

I am using this as part of a soon-to come write up of a similar but larger state-sponsored workers operation here in Georgia. This is merely a partial preview. Believe it or not.

____

From the jfs.ohio.gov website

“An official State of Ohio site”

“Updated Guidance on the Use of Social Security Numbers (SSN) Memo

Customers of the OhioMeansJobs center sometimes do not have an SSN or do not wish to provide their SSN to be put into a computer system. Please note Workforce Investment and Opportunities Act (WIOA) program staff are not allowed to make a person disclose the SSN to be a part of the program.

Suppose a customer is self-registering through the County Finance Information System-OhioMeansJobs App (CFIS Kiosk) or is being entered into Ohio’s case management system and has no SSN or chooses not to give one. In that case, OhioMeansJobs center staff must create a pseudo-nine-digit SSN, a temporary number to register the person. The pseudo number will remain in the case management system until the person provides a social security number.

The formula for a pseudo number is as follows.

  • 99 for the first two digits
  • Use two digits for the month of the job seeker’s birth
  • Two digits for the job seeker’s day of birth
  • Use the last two digits of the job seeker’s year of birth
  • Use a “0” for the last digit

If the system finds a duplicate with the pseudo number, move on to the next number until no duplicates are found. For example, a job seeker with a birth date of July 1, 1968, would have a temporary SSN of 990-70-1680. If this is a duplicate, you would then try 990-70-1681.

The pseudo-SSN formula may also be used when signing up a person for WIOA-funded (participating) services.

While a person is not required to provide an SSN to get into the program, WIOA does not allow exclusions from reporting on performance due to a lack of an SSN. If a participant is enrolled in WIOA services and will not or cannot provide an SSN, wage data must be collected during a person’s first four full quarters after exit.

Please get in touch with OWDPOLICY@jfs.ohio.gov if you have any questions about this guidance.”

Dalton Rep. Kasey Carpenter did not vote on the recent House Resolution condemning Hamas terror in Israel

December 18, 2023 By D.A. King

Dalton area readers may remember hearing in “the news” that many Democrat state House members walked out of the House Chamber instead of casting a vote on a recent Resolution condemning Hamas terrorism.

Here is a bit of that Dec. 4, 2023 story taken from the liberal AJC:

“The Georgia House adopted a Resolution that condemned the deadly Hamas attack against Israel as a “disgusting display of hatred and evil” in a vote Monday that exposed a sharp Democratic divide over the growing conflict in the Middle East.

It passed 129-2 after an hourlong debate, with dozens of Democrats abstaining from the vote. Others were marked absent after several Democratic lawmakers said they wouldn’t back the measure.

The vote was engineered by Republicans to demonstrate GOP unity behind Israel — and highlight political divisions among Democrats…”

(read the entire AJC report here).

What the AJC did not report was that Dalton Republican Kasey Carpenter did not vote on the same Resolution. If you want to ask him why, his Capitol contact info is here.

New state flag in Minnesota – updated

December 17, 2023 By D.A. King

—>Please see my update below. Many thanks to GA State Rep Jesse Petrea for the eagle eye!

I saw this post on Twitter/ X about Minnesota (USA) getting a new state flag. I thought it was likely a joke. So I Googled it. It’s not a joke.

See here. Puntland (in Somalia) flag here.

  • Bonus educati0n: Is Minnesota home to the largest number of Somali Americans in the country?

Update, August 6, 2024:

This original post escaped an update when the Georgia legislature started up in January and I got too busy. My fault. My apologies.

For accuracy and clarity, the Democrats in Minnesota did in fact change their state flag. The final design is much more similar to the Puntland Somali flag than the old state flag, but it is not the same as any of the designs pictured in the End Wokeness sample examples pictured at left. My apologies for the late update. I sent this post out this AM when I heard that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has been chosen as the Democrat VP candidate.

Compared to the old flag that was discarded because it was too American, I’ll be happy to hear from anyone who thinks the new flag isn’t a bow to the Somali population in Minnesota and was put in place to erase more of the history of the state. The far left hated the state seal (here) that was the center of the old flag.

This is the new and current state flag in Minnesota.

The new Minnesota flag is pictured above. Here is a link to the Minnesota Secretary of  State’s office website with the (new) current flag.

Martha Zoller still pushing amnesty for illegal aliens she says “pay taxes” #KempRepublican

November 29, 2023 By D.A. King

The below transcript from Rev.com is from the 10:00 hour of The Martha Zoller Show, WDUN in Gainesville, Nov. 29, 2023.

My cost: $22.00 and about an hour of my life.

Audio below

https://immigrationpoliticsga.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/martha-on-amnesty-nov-29-23.m4a

As in most of the state of Georgia, much of the Gainesville area economy depends on black market labor – or what the leftist media merely refers to as “immigrants.”

We note, again, that either Martha doesn’t know of what she speaks, or is intentionally misleading telling her listeners by telling them that illegal aliens who obtain an ITIN are “paying taxes.” We assume Martha means income taxes. She hasn’t yet told her audience that illegal aliens can and do use the ITIN to file claim the Child Tax credit and the Additional Child tax credit (“CTC & ACTC”). And despite our repeated heads up to Martha (maybe she doesn’t read our Martha Zoller file?) she is keeping to herself the fact that having an ITIN does not mean the illegal alien pays income taxes – not that paying taxes is a reason for another immigration amnesty.

And Martha is apparently silent on the fact that ITINs exist for people who cannot get a Social Security Number, which must be given to employers in the hiring process.

To illegally get a job in the U.S., illegal aliens use a fake or stolen SSN, which is a federal felony. Doing so is also a Georgia felony (we note tax the state law is seldom enforced for illegal aliens). So much for the “the only crime they commit is entering the U.S. illegally” and “criminal illegal immigrants” goop from Martha – which also leaves off the massive visa overstay crisis.

  • Related: How can Undocumented Immigrants be Hired Without a Social Security Number?

“Since the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, all employers are required to verify the work eligibility of all new hires by completing Form I-9, which mandates the employee provide a Social Security number and show documents to their employer to prove work authorization and identity. U.S. citizens frequently show their driver’s license and Social Security card, but because there are a number of documents that can be used to complete the form, the worker does not necessarily need to show their actual Social Security card. “Undocumented workers” who are hired without valid work authorization may provide their employer a fake Social Security number, someone else’s number, or even a previously-valid number issued when they may have had work authorization that has since lapsed.”

We think Martha falls into the category of “not an honest broker.”

Martha Zoller is a “Kemp Republican.”

Ga.Gov. Brain Kemp at Davos, 2023.

Transcript

Richard (caller):

show in progress – “… th- that was my comment for the morning because it drives me crazy to hear people using the- the, uh, buzz words that Democrats put out there. Then the newscasters use it. And- and it becomes the common genre of everybody to use that- that verbiage to justify their point, not the truth.

Martha Zoller, Republican amnesty supporter:

No. I think you’re absolutely right. And look, it’s frustrating to me because enforcing the law, I mean tax law, uh, if I were … I’ve said this before. If I were going back to do my life over again, I would have been a staffer for a congressman and focused on tax policy. And then I would’ve gone out as a lobbyist, because the- the protection of the tax code is something like you’ve never seen before, Richard, because people don’t want us to simplify our tax code. They like it the way it is. But with that said, you’ve got to deal with it the way it is. And using the tax code to your benefit is not cheating.

Richard:

That’s right.

Martha Zoller, Republican amnesty supporter:

Absolutely. Thanks for your call today very much. (770) 535-2911. Yeah. I- I like to always say that, following the law is not cheating. All right? And I- I go back to what my friend, Nathan Deal, said. You need to enforce the law or change it. He was talking about illegal immigration at that time, but illegal immigrants now, their whole, their whole situation has changed, to where they are now saying they’re coming here because Biden told them to come here. They say they’re coming here because, uh, because, uh, they want, a- not they want a better life. They want what we’re giving them. And we’re talking about hundreds of billions of dollars that are being spent on these migrants that are coming across the border illegally, and we’re just letting them in, for untold amounts of time, until they get some kind of hearing. And we’re gonna lose these folks.

And look, I think that- that there are several different layers of immigration. There is legal immigration, which- which I’ve talked about before. We need to implement something like the RAISE Act, where we focus on catching up on green cards and on the skills that we need, and we’re less focused on just how many family members we can get in, and more focused, I’m not saying do away with the family part of it, but less focused on that. More focused on getting the skillsets that we need in the society. That’s the legal immigration part.

Then you have the illegal immigration part, where you’ve got the people that have been here for a long time. Some of them have tax ID numbers. I- I think, I forget the number. The IRS has a number on that of how many illegal immigrants have gone through the trouble to get their tax ID number. So we got, we know who they are, and we know that they’re paying taxes on the money that they’re earning. We have people that have been here for 25 years. But that group of people, and this is where I get in trouble with the, with a lot of the immigration groups, that group of people needs to be looked at differently than criminal illegal immigrants, uh, than people that are committing crimes once they’re here.

There was this story … And then there’s the group that came through in the last three years, which is the biggest group. And Joe Biden, you know, he keeps talking about in 50 years what people are gonna say about him. In 50 years, people are gonna say that he ruined this country and that it took us 30 years to get out of the mess that he made. That’s what they’re gonna be saying about him in 50 years. This is gonna be like some of the decisions He- Herbert Hoover made at the beginning of the Depression that cost us until we got through the second World War. That’s what this is gonna be like. That is, and it’s 100 year cycle. I mean, I hate to say it, but that’s where we are. We’re in this hundred year, hundred year cycle.

But the bottom line is that we have got a serious immigration problem. And it’s not if, but when we have a terrorist attack as a result of the people that we’ve let in this country that we have no idea who they are. And Joe Biden is wrong on this. Mayorkas is wrong on this. And we that are in the- the fix the immigration system camp need to work together instead of picking on each other because they might disagree about one thing or another thing. That’s why nothing’s gotten done here. That and the, both sides love raising money on this. Both sides love raising money on this.

end.

On Illegal immigration & Lt. Gov. Burt Jones’ ‘Red Tape Roll Back’ Initiative

November 15, 2023 By D.A. King

UPDATE, May 6, 2024: As we feared, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones put SB 354 on the Senate floor after being educated from here on the fact that it dismantled the existing process that requires the verification of lawful presence for applicants for occupational licenses. According to Gov. Kemp’s website, SB 354 was a a “high priority” for Lt. Gov. Jones. Kemp signed SB 354 into law on May 2. Readers can catch up on SB 354 here.

“…dismantling existing law to reduce the level of illegality of illegal employment would be a very memorable, Democrat-like sort of maneuver.”

The “Red Tape Roll Back” initiative announced by Lt. Gov. Burt Jones (R) last week is, among other, similar goals, aimed at shrinking state government to make it easier to access business and occupational licenses. This is not a new idea.

GA. Lt. Gov. Burt jones

“A regulatory environment promoting competition, while encouraging the startup and expansion of new businesses, and taking the heavy hand of government out of the equation is a priority. The reforms the Senate will lead on this year will reduce costs and paperwork while minimizing uncertainty for those who want to start or grow a business in Georgia” says Jones. Again, this is not a new agenda.

The Lt. Governor and Senate members would do well to remember that many of what special interest lobbyists refer to as “outdated barriers to employment and occupational licensing” were put in place to fight the organized crime of illegal immigration. And that despite the silence on illegal immigration in Georgia from the governor’s office, the fact is that only six states suffer more “undocumented workers” than we do.

We hope the Lt. Governor hasn’t picked up the agenda pushed by organizers of the 2021 House Study Committee on ‘Innovative Ways to Maximize Global Talent.’ If so, in a state where illegal immigration-related laws are already largely treated as inconvenient “barriers” to profit, this should not be regarded as a wise, pro-enforcement move. As this writer wrote here at the time (“House committee on ‘barriers’ skips transparency, continues one-sided agenda”) “taking the heavy hand of government out of the equation” in the 2021 push was presented as “how reducing the numbers of occupations that require a license, eliminating “antiquated restrictions” and reducing training periods … to match regulations in other states…”

The hoped-for result? A less thorough licensing process – and more profit.

With an eye on lobbyist Darlene C. Lynch at the Business and Immigration for Georgia (BIG) Partnership, it is distressing to see that many of the same anti-enforcement organizers of the extremist 2021 effort are involved in shaping the agenda for the 2024 version of “modernizing state occupational licensing requirements” and “strengthening Georgia small businesses.” As she did in the 2021 House study committee, Lynch seemed to play a prominent role in the Secretary of State’s GA WORKS Licensing Commission and the Senate Study Committee on Occupational Licensing. Gold Dome experience says there is little doubt it is also true in the Lt. Governor’s office.

Darlene C. Lynch

Lynch’s 2021 recommendations included removing the requirement that law enforcement officers be U.S. citizens. She also patiently explained that on “overhauling licensing schemes” …there’s a couple of different ways states are doing it. One is to remove unnecessary immigration related requirements that don’t really matter for that particular profession.” Legislators would do well to familiarize themselves with all of the James Online 2021 House Study Committee reports to fully grasp what may be coming.

The 2023 Senate Study Committee is chaired by Sen. Larry Walker (R- Perry) who did not allow public comment after testimony from a long list of pre-arranged business interest witnesses in the summer meetings. Indeed, this writers written request to provide some expert, pro-enforcement balance went unanswered (committee video archive).

Sen. Larry Walker

Many thanks to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for the public comment period he provided and for the opportunity afforded me to urge that his commission recommend that regs now in place dealing with verification of ‘lawful presence’ for business license applicants be regarded as off limits to “modernizing” the business and professional license system.

While there is no good time to reduce vigilance on making Georgia as unattractive to illegal immigration as possible, even a seemingly minor reduction or elimination of related existing laws would result in making “dollar-first Georgia” even more attractive to the millions of potential future Democrat voter, illegal aliens the Biden administration has moved into the United States since 2021.

As a reluctant denizen of the Gold Dome for most of two decades, it is disturbingly obvious that not many legislators have even a basic level of knowledge of these hard-fought statutes. I offer just one example of recommended reading for all concerned: OCGA 50-36-1, Verification of Lawful presence.

We note that if it is part of the plan, dismantling existing law to reduce the level of illegality of illegal employment would be a very memorable, Democrat-like sort of maneuver.

Martha Zoller comments on controversial immigration and free speech statements from Nikki Haley

November 15, 2023 By D.A. King

Republican radio show host Martha Zoller also says illegal immigration has increased so much that Brian Kemp “had to change his tactics” and abandon his 2018 campaign promises on “criminal illegals” and ending sanctuary cities.

The below is from the Martha Zoller radio show, Nov. 15, 2023. Martha was commenting on the statements from candidate Nikki Haley. See below and here.

Apparently Haley was merely re-hashing the RAISE Act?

Niki Haley, candidate for president:

When it comes to legal immigration, it’s a broken system. It shouldn’t take someone 10 years to become a citizen (note from D.A. : It doesn’t). So…

But what we need to do is reform it. So for too long, Republican and Democrat presidents dealt with immigration based on a quota. We’ll take X number this year, we’ll take X number next year, the debate is on the number. It’s the wrong way to look at it. We need to do it based on merit. We need to go to our industries and say, “What do you need that you don’t have?” So think agriculture, think tourism, think tech. We want the talent that’s going to make us better, then you bring people in that can fill those needs.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

Um, that was Niki Haley talking to some folks in a diner in Iowa about legal immigration. There’ve been some people that have um pushed back on what she said. But what she’s talking about is really the RAISE Act, that yes, we have a very, very serious illegal immigration problem that could be fixed with the border being secure, with doing some things related to stay in Mexico. I mean, honestly, we’d have a lot easier time securing the Mexican border than we do have our own border. We could get some help from Mexico doing it, but there’s a lot of things we could talk about related to illegal immigration and we do. Okay? Because we have way too many people that have come in over the last three and a half, thirty years and especially in the last three and a half years. And then we have uh, a lot of people that we don’t know how they got in.

But what Niki Haley is talking about in this clip is legal immigration, okay? We need to shift from what is just an overall number of visas, at 1.1 million, that you apply for to that are some visa programs that are more merit-based, meaning that you have to meet some criteria. So in the RAISE act, which I supported, um it was things like being able to speak English. That wasn’t the only thing, there was a whole list of things. Where the more items, more boxes you could check the more likely you were going to be, to be able to get a um, a visa, okay?

You ought to have an ability to make legal, H-1B visa holders, they’re tech people, H-1B visa holders that have been living here for a number of years. They have children that have been born here, they are legal immigrants. They are not illegal immigrants. They are legal immigrants. They are waiting for a green card. We’ve got to speed up that process. That is not anti-American. That is pro-American. These are people that are following the law, okay, and want to come into this country and have the proper documents to come into this country. These should be separate from the what, two and half million a year that have been coming in, two million a year that we know of that have been coming in at the border since Joe Biden has been President. And the 1.1 million that legally immigrant. It’s a separate situation.

Lets go to the phones now and talk to Alan in Dahlonega. Hey Allan, how you doing?

Alan:

I’m good. You?

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

I’m fantastic. Thank you.

Alan:

All right. Appreciate it. Um, I tuned just a little bit ago so you might have already talked about this, but um, uh I heard um, about uh what Niki Haley had to say uh, on the news about social media?

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

Yes.

Alan:

And uh, I was thinking um, hopefully um everybody’s not getting all their news from social media. Maybe she’s uh, maybe they’re getting too much from TikTok or maybe she is. I don’t, I don’t know what’s going on here but uh, you know, I liked her most of the time but uh just things like that I thinks like infringing on uh, uh first amendment um-

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

Yeah. I do think, I think that you know, I think what she said was to be clear, she said she wanted the, she was going to ask the social media companies to um turn over their algorithms and she was going to say that every person had to use their actual name on their handles. I do think that oversteps. I agree with you on that. I, I, I do think that the government needs to work with social media companies about um, about, you know, what their algorithms are and what they’re doing. I think there ought, they ought to work with it because they’re functioning off of like 1990s law. And you know technology’s come a long way since the 1990s.

Alan:

Right.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

I mean it’s kind of like it took forever to change the telephone laws because they were like 1906 rate or something like that. So we’ve got to look at that. And I personally, I do not respond to anyone that does not use what looks like a real name or has their real name in their um a, a, uh, has their real name in their description because to me, it’s kind of like, remember the old days of letters and stamps, right? So I, we used to get mail-

Alan:

Right.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

… here at the station of people that liked you or didn’t like you,

Alan:

(laughs)

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

… and basically the rule of thumb was if they didn’t have a return address on the envelope it went into the circular file. If they wanted, you know, if, if you’re not willing to put your name on your complaint that you’re going to mail to me, then I’m not going to take the time to read it. (laughs) So, that’s kind of what the way I am about social media. If you don’t use a real name, I don’t really read it.

Alan:

Well and then like I said, the other thing is maybe people ought to consider uh, I don’t know how else we can do it, but electronically the newspapers or something or some other way besides just you know so many of these s-, especially millennials like that get their all they’re news from social media.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

It does. And yeah I have a daughter. My youngest child’s 31. My kids are 31 to 41. And so my youngest child’s like, “Mom. I’m getting all this stuff in my feed that I didn’t sign up for. I didn’t ask for it.” And it’s all news-related. And uh you’re right. You’ve got to go somewhere else. I think it’s no different than Wikipedia, okay? It’s not a bad place to start. You might find something you want to learn more about. But you need to go to other sources to learn about it.

Alan:

All right. I appreciate it.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

Thanks Alan.

Alan:

That’s it.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

Appreciate, appreciate your call very much. And you know I do think, I don’t know Logan, I want to chi-, I’m always making Logan chime in these days because I think it’s important to get a person his age point of view. I don’t know if you heard the clip that Niki Haley said but basically she said, first we’re going to get, I want to see their algorithms. Second, I want them to require that that people are verified to be real people, not bots, okay? I think the second one might be a little easier to do, that you can verify that it’s a real person. But the first thing, I mean, that’s kind of proprietary to a company. I don’t know if the government can ask for that. I do think there needs to be an update of laws related to social media because they are running on 1990s laws.

Logan:

Right.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

But I don’t, you know and I don’t, I don’t know if a President can actually control that.

Logan:

I’m not sure if they can and, and I’m not sure about the, you know, you have to have your real name on social media. And I can see why she might have said that, but also it kind of restricts your freedom that those apps give you. Uh because you know you can have various different Twitter handles and what not, and just kind of restricts it. But I get where she’s coming from but I think, like you mentioned, she kind of overstepped her boundaries there.

Martha Zoller GOP radio show host:

Absolutely. And you know what? People I know social media’s fun because you can say whatever you want and nobody knows who you are, but eventually you’re going to know who you are and you need to think about what you say. It’s the Martha Zoller show. We’ll be back….

Moderate Republican Martha Zoller still pushing amnesty, still confused on facts

November 13, 2023 By D.A. King

The below is from the Martha Zoller opening monologue to start the week on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023. I say again: I get the impression she pushes amnesty and inaccurate related “facts” to her listeners pretty much every day. We’ll get to this when time allows, but part of the recurring theme seems to be if an illegal alien obtains an ITIN he should be rewarded with amnesty. SMH

  • Related reading from last week: Martha Zoller pushes amnesty (yes, again) in today’s show

Good news! Martha didn’t push her mindless defense of Gov. Brian Kemp today that goes like this: “He had to change his tactics” and refuse to honor his 2018 pledge to enforce anti-sanctuary city laws in Georgia, to create a public database of what he referred to as criminal illegals” and to send legislation to the general assembly that he labeled “the Kemp Track and Deport Plan.” So, that’s something, eh?

Amnesty supporter Martha Zoller:

… now. So, as I’ve said before, you know, I get criticized for it ’cause there’s some hardliners out there, but as I’ve said before, there is a complica- it is a complicated issue, but it’s not that complicated to solve. The first thing you gotta do now on the northern and the southern border, because there’s a big problem on the northern border now, a 500% increase in people crossing on the northern border. There’s bigger challenges because when you cross in cold weather, and there’s a lot of people that somehow have gotten to Canada that are not Canadians that are coming across this border. So you’ve got to secure the border, you’ve got to use troops if you have to. You’ve gotta build a wall where it makes sense to build a wall. But the whole concept of building a wall was never gonna be, you built a 2,000-mile wall on both on the north and south of the border.

It always depended upon terrain, and geography, and where it could be built, okay. So, you know, what’s co- the goal is to drive people to the legal points of entry so that they have to do the things that people do to come in legally or be turned away. So that’s gotta be done first. Then you’ve got the people on… there’s an app for that, you know, that have signed up that we pretty much know where they are. Need to round those folks up and get them outta here because they’re not all asylum seekers, seekers. We’ve probably already let terrorists in. We probably have, I hate to be so negative about that. I got an email saying, “Martha, don’t say that because it’ll scare people.” Well, I’m scared, okay. I’m not changing the way I live my life, but I am aware that there’s probably cells of, of Hamas or Hezbollah in the United States right now, um, think that’s true.

Then I hope people would look at the RAISE Act, uh, which deals with the legal immigration issue, uh, because there are H-1B, H-1A  (Note from D.A.: the H-1A nurse program, enacted by the Nursing Relief Act of 1989, expired on September 1, 1995.[4][5] The last H-1A visas were issued in Fiscal Year 2000.[6]  – here.) visa holders that are waiting for green cards, they’re waiting longer than what they would normally have to wait. And, uh, because of that, uh, they have lots of limitations on them. Their spouses can’t work. There’s other things, but these are people that wanna stay in the United States. They filed the paperwork, they’ve done the process, they’ve done their time. The big challenge is w- if they… As they wait for the green card, is it’s their employer that’s implied for the green card. So their employer, they kind of are indentured servants. They can’t change jobs. So that’s a big problem that could be fixed through the RAISE Act that was introduced by Senator Perdue.

Then we’ve got to have more pressure on employers so that they don’t have incentives to hire illegal immigrants. There ought to be E-Verify everywhere. There’s supposed to be E-Verify everywhere, but there are some places where they’re not. We need to make sure that employers have more penalties for hiring illegal immigrants, that will stem the tide if there’s not work. Um, but then ultimately, what we’re gonna have to do is there’s a whole group of people that have been here a long time that have different levels of, of situation. And again, you know, I don’t know if it’s 20 years Newt Gingrich talked about 25 years, 20 years, 10 years, 15 years. I don’t know what it is. That’s for other people to decide, that if you have lived here X period of time, you have not interacted with law in other ways, and you have followed certain… It ought to be taken on a family by family basis and looked at.

There’s also a group of people. I mean, I know this is complicated. I’m making y’all… I’m, I’m sure you’re head splitting around like Linda Blair, but you’ve got also a group of people that have gone and gotten tax ID numbers and they’re filing taxes every year. Those folks… I mean, I think they ought to be put at the front of the line because they’re, they’re paying taxes even though they could get away with not paying taxes, that shows they wanna be a part of the country. So I don’t think there’s one answer to this. I do think it’s complicated, and I am a Conservative, I am a no illegal immigration person, but you also have to know, you know, you’re dealing with people here that are in different situations.

Let’s just… For example, a person that I helped at one point in time, because I didn’t know she was an illegal immigrant, but she finally confessed to me that she was, and she had come in on a false document, but since she had come into the United States, she had married, been married for 13 years to an American, and she had two children. She had, uh, documentation that when she paid for it… she was a Venezuelan at that time, this is 25 years ago, she paid $3,500 for this document. So she thought it was a legal document. In her mind, I’m paying money, I’m getting this document back, it must be legal.

She noticed that the name was spelled wrong, and when she asked about it, they said, “Oh, don’t worry. It’s fine. It’s fine.” So she came in on a false document, and she’s been working, she’s been doing things. Um, and you know, I told her, “I cannot help you except for to say I know you to be a good worker because you’re here illegally, and I don’t want you to be taken away from your children.” But there’s a, there’s a situation here. So finally, you know, an immigration lawyer was able to help her and she was able to stay with her family. And I think that that was a good end to that situation.

But I think that right now that’s what we’re having all around the country is there are people that are intentionally breaking our laws in coming in. There are people that are being taken advantage of by the cartels, and there are people that are in 21st century slavery because they owe money to the cartels, and they can’t pay it back. And so because of that, they’re in a big situation where they’re just being trafficked, either labor trafficking or sex trafficking, and we need to stand up against all of that and we’re gonna need a president that understands how to put this process back together.

And you know what, there’s a couple of people on the Republican side that have done it. I think Nikki Haley could do it. I think Donald Trump could do it. I think Donald Trump did do it. So I think it’ll be a big issue in this next election. We’ll be back on the Martha Zoller Show.
